The Caribbean Sports Organization (CSO) was born from the lifelong friendship of five Puerto Rican cyclists — Ernesto, Chaguito, Rafael, Luis, and Carmen — who grew up riding together through the island’s mountains and coastal roads. All five practiced the sport passionately in their youth, pushing each other to go faster, climb higher, and dream bigger. Their bond, forged on two wheels, has lasted since 1973.
Each of them followed a different path in adulthood, but cycling never left their lives. Ernesto came close to going professional before choosing to pursue ophthalmology, eventually becoming a highly respected doctor. Rafael, equally devoted to the sport, built a career as a medical optometrist in Philadelphia. Chaguito turned his passion into entrepreneurship, running a successful bicycle shop in Miami. And whether through community rides, weekend training, or cheering each other on from afar, Luis and Carmen have remained deeply connected to the cycling world.
Whenever these five friends — who are more like brothers — get together, their conversations always circle back to the same things: bicycles, races, and the island they love. They speak with the nostalgia of riders who know every curve of the road and with the pride of Boricuas who carry Puerto Rico in their hearts no matter where life has taken them.
It is this shared passion — this sense of freedom, meditation, and connection that cycling has always given them — that inspired the creation of CSO. Their mission is simple and heartfelt: to build sports tourism events that showcase Puerto Rico’s breathtaking landscapes, warm culture, and ideal tropical climate.
Their vision is to transform Puerto Rico into the ultimate winter haven for athletes and travelers who find joy, solace, and community in the sport.
